Tangible Creativity: The impact of tangible computing on creative cognition
The development of new interaction technology that affords tangible and gesture interaction
has an impact on cognition. We explore the relationships between tangible interaction and creative
cognition and propose the use of interactive cubes as an alternative to a keyboard for
creative composition tasks.
Digital Interactive Keys: A prototype for the DINKS interaction model
Digital Interactive Keys (DI N K S ): a
design that takes advantage of the affordances of
handheld interactive objects as a complement to touch
screens for creative composition. This design enables
tangible interaction with elements of a composition along
with a larger touch sensitive display for interacting with
the whole composition. We describe design precedents
and their affordances for combining smaller physical
elements with larger display devices and show how this
design is unique in using handheld interactive objects for
spatial exploration of elements in a composition that is
synthesized on a touch screen.
